Innovative, Pure. Live. The eclectic sounds of My SoundStation kicks open the doors with Teeko emerging as an innovator in a new era of turntablism with a contemporary and progressive edge.

After achieving international success, acclaim and recognition for his creativity in international competitive DJ circuits, Bay area-based Teeko of the collective 4onefunk crew, felt the constraints of the battle scene closing in. His musically feral state of mind began to produce original sounds that followed no traditional composition. With a “no rules” mantra in mind, Teeko utilized different dynamics of music production, including live sound cutting, solidifying the declaration of the turntable as an instrument. The fusion of live instruments and turntable scratching emitted a hand crafted work of live, fluid art that is anything but duplicated. Teeko’s _expression of music divulged what the turntable world had been missing: true musicianship. The end result is a fresh, ear-pleasing album with a wide range of styles and textures that appeals to all music lovers.

My SoundStation “represents a new time for DJs…how they create music as well as collaborate with other musicians. This album takes you on a journey through dope scratching, unique production and ridiculous live instrumentation,” proclaims fellow Dollar Bin Quintet bandmate, Max Kane. Collaborations featured on My SoundStation include Jazz saxophonist Kenny Brooks and drummer Jay Lane of Alphabet Soup and Ratdog, as well as turntable band The Dollar Bin Quintet (Max Kane, BCause, J-1, Mike Boo and Teeko). The world class musicians featured add unique flavor to this distinctive album in turntable scratch music.

Teeko’s premier album opens the floodgate to a new epoch in turntablism.

ABOUT TEEKO

Tee·ko: n. Musician, producer, master turntablist, DJ. Co-founder of dominating DJ collective 4onefunk crew and turntable Funk band The Dollar Bin Quintet.

Joining Bay Area DJ crew, Divide and Conquer in the 1990s was simply the dawn of Puerto Rican born Teeko’s career as a musician. For nearly three years, Teeko entered and won DJ battles in competitive DJ circuits, appeared as a regular guest DJ on the popular San Francisco radio station, Wild 94.9, and continued to rock crowds in Northern California’s premier venues, while consistently leaving a distinct flavor of Funk that lingered in one’s ear.

The blandness of the battle scene and restraints of the party environment began to restrict Teeko as he worked towards refining his craftsmanship as a scratch musician and producer. The sounds heard in his head were simply original and followed no traditional composition. Alongside his San Francisco based 4onefunk crew as well as a solo artist, Teeko toured from coast to coast, sharing the stage with great names, including some of Jazz’s finest musicians like the Charlie Hunter Quartet and Ratdog. Across the oceans, the crew gained recognition in the international competitive DJ circuit, displaying innovating skill in the ITF World Championships in 2003. Teeko not only worked to refine his own skill, but to convince and enlighten nonbelievers of the validity of his musicianship and the perception of the turntable as an instrument.

Since 2005, dream ensemble, The Dollar Bin Quintet featuring turntablists Teeko, Mike Boo, Max Kane and Bcause plus funky drummer J-1 have toured the west coast exhibiting revolutionary styles and novel skills. Teeko’s widely anticipated debut album, My SoundStation is scheduled to release on October 12, 2006, exposing his eclectic musical style and infinite creativity as a composer. Most recently Teeko was announced as the grand prize recipient of the renowned Berklee School of Music‘s 2006 Milestones Innovative Producer’s Contest.
